My Cohort Story: Sarah

I’ve done Scripture Circle studies for a few years now. With the pandemic, I considered waiting *another* year to participate in the cohort, knowing we would do at least some of our year virtually.

I’m so glad I didn’t wait.

October 30, 2021 - Cohort Hey Closing Retreat at St Jane House in North Minneapolis.

Knowing that these faces would gather in my living room twice a month was a touch point, a hold-fast for this year.

Has my life *completely* changed by going through cohort? No. And that’s absolutely OK. (I had put pressure on myself and on this experience to be that.) It doesn’t mean I did it wrong, or missed out on something “God had planned” for me through this time.

I am reminded of what it is to have a community who make and hold space for each other as we question, and wrestle, and celebrate.

My approach to reading and interacting with Scripture has changed in a way that feels expansive and generous. I am less sure of, and more interested in what I find in these pages.

I have new tools to mine what is there (and what’s not). I have renewed “permission” (confirmation of what Spirit has been saying to my heart all along) to embrace the questions and live joyfully in a space of not knowing all the answers.

When I am tempted to doubt if I “made the most” of my cohort time, I have a steady knowing that this *was* the year for me.

My cohort experience is not done after one year. In many ways, the end of the 40 weeks marks only the beginning.

This post is filled with pictures Sarah took during the Cohort Hey Closing Retreat.

Could this year be the year for you to join the Cohort program?

Over the course of 40 weeks, the 2022 Cohort will walk together through an intensive journey of study and community. The connections formed in the Cohort are often deep and lasting. The immersion in the Hebrew language and the midrash style of study equips people to see their faith and their lives through a different lens.

Our next Cohort starts in January and is filling up now. For more information or to read more cohort stories, check out our Cohort page.

It starts with a conversation, so email Steph or Lisa to grab a walk or zoom and talk more about whether this is the best next step for you.

Want to hear more? You can read stories from members of each of our cohort groups on previous posts. Check out Tammy’s story, Karin’s story, Michelle’s story, Travis's story, and Ashely's story.
